Research therefore alternates between the idiographic understanding of an individual’s experience within the lifeworld, and the description of the essential features of a specific experience. Finally, to help grasp the idiography of an experience some features essential to any lifeworld should be noted (Ashworth, 2006 – developing especially Merleau-Ponty, 1945/1962).
